Scholarships:
About our Scholarships.
To honor the life and legacy of our friend, Hal W. McIntosh (Mr. Mac), Pike Road Theatre is pleased to announce the HAL W. MCINTOSH THEATRE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PROGRAM. With excitement, we share this opportunity to continue his spirit of generosity and share his love for quality theatre experiences for students. We will begin accepting scholarship applications January 1st. The scholarship fund is excepting donations and gifts to honor his legacy by investing in students. All donations are tax deductible.
Hal cherished his time at the University of Montevallo and Auburn University. “Mr. Mac” served as a high school teacher and theatre director for thirty years. He spread the joy of theatre, directing over 50 high school musicals and plays. Throughout his career, he inspired young people to create and share the beauty of the arts with others. In addition to his love of teaching, Mr. Mac directed numerous theatrical productions in the Birmingham community. He was the honored recipient of the Dorothy Schwartz Educator of the Year Award, Alabama’s Outstanding Theatre Teacher, Irving Stern for Theatrical Excellence Award. Hal served as a past president of the Alabama Conference of Theatre, past BFT Board Member, and was an active judge for the Trumbauer Festival each year.
Hal loved directing and the stage, loved to laugh, gave wonderful hugs, showed so much kindness to everyone around him, and devoted himself to the care of his beloved brother. His kind words and fatherly advice will be cherished by all who knew his generosity.
